Post script

Well after the lotus weaving nothing was really going to beat it, no mater how much Alex tried!

We went to see the blacksmith first, they were busy making knife blades.

A box of rusty bits....

And to prove that I am actually here in Myanmar here I am!

Whilst we enjoyed our lunch the boats were mooredlong side ready to take us to our next destination

which was the boat builders.  It takes about a month to build a boat the size of the one we are using.  The teak wood is cut, shaped and nailed together before being made water tight with a natural resin.

See the wooden plane he is using?

I have some at home similar, they belonged to my Uncle Tom who was a joiner.

The ladies making the cigars were so quick and nimble it was tricky to see how the cigars were actually made.

Each worker makes about a thousand per day.

Our journey back was through the floating gardens and stilt houses.

This is a totally different way of gardening as you go up and down each row tending to your crop from the boat.

The long bamboo poles are there to stop the floating lands from drifting away.

Families have lived on the lake for hundreds of years.

Every family has a boat and the young know no difference.

A couple of leg- rowing fishermen were still out as we made our way back to dry land.
