Nothing is wasted.

Indians are very much into recycling, everywhere we go we see small workshops and chaps sat by the road mending stuff or turning it into something else.  You aren't probably aware that much of the paper packaging we use in the west is actually rag paper...and here is how it is made....

Cotton textile waste from the clothing industry is finely chopped and mixed with water to make a type of porridge.  This is then caught on large screens,

Flipped out and dried before being rolled flat and stacked.

The paper produced in this factor is then scored and cut before being folded and glued to make, in this case, gift bags. They are then shipped, out across the world.

Every part of the process is labour intensive- it's cheap and the jobs are needed.

Plain, embossed, printed or flocked.  There are no end of possibilities.
